The New Pravda Is Today’s American Media
As I’ve said many times over the past several years, the American media has become so biased and corrupt that the information Soviet citizens would get from the notoriously politicized, propagandizing Pravda could plausibly be considered more reliable than what America now gets from the American media.
It has gotten so bad that I now maintain an EXTREMELY long list of media outlets that I never look at anymore as their reporting has become so biased.
Because the political Left (including the Democratic Party) has descended into the insanity and dystopia of cultural Marxist ideology, the Left has become a crusading mob of zombies not unlike the Red Guard during Mao’s Chinese Cultural Revolution. Like the Red Guard, the American Left ruinously believes that all of the “old” traditions in American culture must be exterminated because such traditions are “oppressive.”
The American Left has therefore set out to engage in what is known as “the long march through the institutions.”
Wikipedia describes this “march” as follows: “a phrase attributed to the Italian communist Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937) and then coined as a succinct mission statement by Marxist student activist Rudi Dutschke in the 1960s.
“The phrase is used to describe the intellectual takeover of a society without need to resort to a military conflict. Instead, the strategy focuses on slowly winning over the chief institutions that determine the direction of a culture and thereby creating a soft revolution from within those institutions. So, the focus was on the universities, then the unions, the arts, the K-12 schools, the media, then corporations, and finally the society as a whole.”
Since the fifties or sixties, the American Left has largely achieved this.
Consider the fact that the following institutions have become leftist indoctrination machines as a result of containing membership that is nearly 100 percent composed of those registered with the Democratic Party. It would not be hyperbole to call each of these institutions political left-wing monocultures, where it is exceptionally rare to find a member of the political Right, and therefore exceptionally rare to see ideas supported by the political Right:
K-12 Public Schools
News Media
Entertainment Industry
Colleges and Universities
Teachers Unions
A growing number of Corporations
Human Resources departments of nearly all companies, governments, and universities (this influence tends to be called “Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity” [DIE])
The following is from The Canceling of the American Mind (2023), an excellent book by Greg Lukianoff and Rikki Schlott:
“A 2022 Gallup poll revealed that just 16 percent of Americans said they had a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in newspapers…Television news did even more abysmally than newspapers, coming in at only 11 percent – making broadcast news the second-least trusted institution in the Gallup poll, beating only Congress.
“And, according to a 2023 survey by the Knight Foundation, a mere 26 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of our news media – a rate that dropped across the political spectrum in the years since the pandemic. Just 23 percent think that national news organizations have their customers’ best interests in mind. And a staggering 55 percent feel national news organizations intend to mislead, misinform, or persuade the public.
“Similarly, a survey conducted by Edelman the year prior found that 58 percent of Americans agreed with the statement “most news organizations are more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than with informing the public…According to a 2021 Reuters Institute report, the United States ranked 46th out of 46 countries in trust in the media. While Finland led at an impressive 65 percent, only 29 percent of Americans said they trust the media. Pp. 111-2
